the orientation post (O1.2005)

finally i gathered enough discipline to begin writing this post. after a long and exciting week, i'll give 3 cheers to :
Hwa Chong! - that's where all the fun had been!
j1's - you've been great juniors!
O1 comm - WE ROCK!!!!

resumed school with mixed feelings. my class basically had the same set of teachers except for physics. same econs teacher; let's hope he improves this year. sadly, our class is smaller by one member for this year...hope my classmate adjusts well in his new class. saw a lotta familiar faces once again, refreshed after the break, in hostel and in school. sad part is i received a cold shoulder from someone who's one of the closer friends of mine... i'm lost for words and action already. why such ignorance from you? beats me. probably i'm still naive at such matters.

patiently sat through the first few lessons of the day, then once councillors are dismissed, yippee!!! no mood to study anyway since it was orientation. quick lunch then got changed for our council walk-in. used one of the songs from 'the matrix' soundtrack. it was messy, but still looked nice as we did a spiral thingy as the committees were introduced. danced wild wild west for the j1s, but then there was a hiccup with PA and the song stopped abruptly...all of us on the stage was just caught by surprise. haha. after that, taught the juniors mass dance. teaching mass dance is SO FUN!!!! i enjoyed every bit of it. moved around the crowd to teach as many ppl as possible.

day 2 was just as good. since there was no math test, council was rather relaxed compared to the rest of the j2 population. at about 10am, i took my og for a time of fun and games. i was in charge of OG 19!!!! you guys are great! good mix of people - sporty, funny, blur, chio....didn't think i was very entertaining, was trying my best to make things funny but i think i was stressed a bit too. 'tortured' my group to play the pass the pocky game and this game called body parts. spider web was challenging to do as a class..haha. didn't go out for lunch coz not enough time. bought food for those who were hungry then we just bummed at one of the class benches and talk a lotta nonsense. had song session to end off the day...nice! the guitar i borrowed from chris ong sounded super! oh, the class list came out at the end of day 2. felt a bit sad there was no 05S6A.

was hoping to get 05S7E, the class which i'm the class councillor, as our junior class...and the wish came true! so happy! the juniors were a great class. enthusiastic bunch of peepz. hmm...many crashers today..j3s mainly...mr pang quite mad about it. i spotted some but played cool coz they were contributing ideas and didn't want to spoil the junior's fun. they blended in well i guess. haha. i think this year the juniors had a really tight timetable...really pushed to the max to come up with their class flag and item for campfire night. wow... i LOVE their flag. so cool - the afro hair and the shades...and they called themselves 7Ecstascy..coz they're addictive. so cute! haha. they had their first game as a class today playing some station games...i was in charge of the amoeba station. ailene came to my station too..haha..soo funny watching all the j1's. brings back memories. packaging work session was efficient..good good

day 4 was just games and more! telematch n station games 2. during telematch, me n rich manned one of the poker memory stalls. it was a great time having 'some fun' with the j1s. we pretended to stone till the j1 class cheered for us..haha. the only class that did it was a15...coz the other classes came in torrents..we once had about 7 classes at our station. modified the game a little to accommodate the large human population present without losing the fun of it all! the classes that game later was more lucky in the sense that we gave them more entertainment during the game. XD . man aged to catch a glimpse of the new athena fac dance... it's way cooler than last year S6's fac dance. i think i can only do the first 2 moves though. (--,") anyway, i did the jumping-jack-n-jill station with faith..haha, i think we are so pro we can finish one round me-vs-perh in 30 sec. that was the intended speed for the game but well, you really need some time to get a hang of it. the most exciting to watch are usually the last few rounds, ie the last 5-10 rounds when 2 classes are battling it out against each other. guess what's the bestest part of the game - you don't have to do much to set-up! ( oh well, poker memory requires much less effort =p ) we had campfire worksession at night, which lasted till late. managed to catch a glimpse of 7E's class banner...afro! it's way COOL.... about half the class was still there, and some from 6A as well to accompany the juniors. haha...happy family!

last n most fun day of orientation! WAR GAMES!!! this year's battleground is really unique... 4-sided war. there's better defense since each fac can only attack the towers of the faculty adjacent to their own ground, ie. not go diagonally, coz they have to go through two rounds of starching from the councillors(heehee...) and also raids from the fac which they are trespassing. poor thing. probably that's the reason why this year each fac had 0 water bombs at the end of war games. there wasn't much back-stab attacks...not very feasible. ares' cheering was good i thought, and apollo was such an obedient fac. well done apollo! hmmm...some remarks i got during the games which i think shouldn't be made at all, given the fact that the person who remarked didn't even do what he or she told another to. sigh. after wash-up and lunch, i got really sick and slept... was later 'banished' back to hostel and told to rest. nothing i could do then, so i took a 3hr break/sleep and voila! i got better, just in time for campfire! had to rush back with cd for a short movie clip but then later we didnt' present it(also the sensorium vale video which we acted in) due to PA technical error. the rock band that played during pre-campfire was good as it provided entertainment before the main programme commences. everything turned out great, we were rara-ing the j1's so spirits was really high the entire night. although we had to move to the hall for a while, it was good as it allowed us to do more of inter-faculty cheering. the drizzle was kind enough to go away so that we could have our grand light-up in the central plaza. it didn't go too well because the rain affected the burning of kerosene, but anyway, the crowd was still high in spirits! song and dance followed soon after. louse is quite concerned/worried i might faint coz i havn't fully recovered but i proved to be a tough one...haha. dancing dirty pop today was exceptionally memorable because just a few hours before our council dance i almost missed out on all the fun on campfire night, and in the end i managed to make it still. yeah! after clear-up, i rushed to serene center to meet 6A n 7E...i was late so quite a few had left. *disappointed* got to know who my mortal is...there was an error initially, same person i heard, but later the problem was solved. aha...tricky one here, i shan't discuss. anyway, need to identify who my current mortal is, can't remember names and faces of juniors yet so really gotta ask in secret so as not to reveal my identity too early.

01 concluded on a high note(besides myself who got ill after the 5 long n exciting days). i'm so happy to see all those happy faces of j1's. a reassurance that they really enjoyed it and i'm glad i could share a taste of hwachong with them. gotta start writing to my mortal..hope she'll be nice to reply!
